Man, we're getting close to our new baby arriving and sorting through the stuff that you're "supposed" to have on a baby registry? My question is this - what don't we need even though it's on a sug... Continue

Daddy Needs a Drink . . .

So, I recently started reading the book belonging to the above blog title, and I can actually relate to Mr. Robert Wilder, and our lil "chicken" (as my wife often refers to our boy) hasn't even hatched. If you or any Dads out there are in need of a good laugh, AND have a great sense of humor and do not mind an F-bomb here and there, OK everywhere, go buy this book! The chicken, or Liam Archer Hlavach as he will soon be known is due on my birthday (8/10) and I couldn't be more excited. It is har… Continue

Kindermobel - the birth of a business

This is basically a tool for me to journal the challenges of starting a business, having a two year old son, and expecting a second child in January - all this while my current job has been 'disestablished'.

We have started a business to import children's furniture from Offi Kids to distribute to retailers in New Zealand. This venture has been in the pipeline for 8 months but really only kicked off seriously in February 2007 when we found out the company I work for was up for sale and…

No Room For Boys

I have a son, so I have to shop for boy stuff. I could be completely insane, or it could be that girl swag takes up about 3/4 of every store, and boy stuff is usually somewhere back by the exposed plumbing.

Summer Travel With the Kids

It has been a very busy summer of travel for our family. With the kids hitting ages 6 and 8, we have reached our travel tipping point. Our children are now self sufficient little units, with the power to feed, dress, wash, brush, ask nicely, not throw a fit, and enjoy life as a child should. Our hard work has payed off, and it's nice to see the results. Road trips are now a lot of fun. Music cranking windows down kinda fun, with only the occasional threat from me to pull the car over on the hig… Continue

Design Envy: Shoe and Coat Rack

Built-in Coat & Shoe Rack

Now that our daughter is starting to crawl, we've started to be more diligent at taking off our shoes at the front door. It means, however, that eyesore clutter of shoes when you first walk in the house, which I hate. My wife's solution is to run to Target or Ikea and get a shoe rack - bleeech! If we had the room, I'd love to have a solution like this coat and shoe hanger wall in a NY penthouse designed by the architect team at Manhattan Produce.

Meanwhile, we still don't have a great solution for our shoes.
